Selected Question: You talk a lot about vision, can you give us practical tips on how to prepare a vision? |
Answer: Please note that there is so much to learn about vision, but below is a brief reply to get you started: Understanding the vision process. - God is the source Fresh vision can come from exposure to new material, exposure to new people or by relating to new Churches. Most importantly it comes from HEARING GOD. God knows exactly what you will need to do in your area, for your Church and His people. To find vision you will need to stay in close contact with HIM.
- Biblical foundations the vision will always be rooted in scripture, are you drawn to the Cell movement for practical reasons or are you convinced that Cells are the Biblical pattern for Christianity. Everything that we attempt should be firmly rooted in Gods Word.
- Vision has to be shared In order for the vision to move from concept to reality, then it must become a shared vision. This is a critical for the success of the vision and it takes time. It is shared from the initial person to a group of committed people who will commit to that vision and share it with others. You will need a core group of leaders in absolute commitment and unity with the vision or else you will not succeed.
- Protected in Prayer The vision will not succeed if it is not continuously brought before the Lord in Prayer.
- Do you have the vision or does the vision have you? It is not enough to have a vision for a Cell based Church. The vision has got to have you. If you have it then you can let go of it. If the vision has you then you will persist through the setbacks, inevitable failures and obstacles.
- Assess your own ability to effect long-term change Good Pastors have succeeded in sharing the vision because of the respect and love and trust that they have achieved in their congregations. Pastors who have made many mistakes are less likely to succeed in promoting their new vision because the congregation wont support them. Also, the vision will take time is the Pastor prepared to stay in that congregation for 5-10 years.
- Remember to keep learning The most successful visionaries are the ones who are willing to admit that they dont know much and are prepared to learn from others.
In order to determine a practical vision for a Cell Church you will need to ask yourself the following questions? -
What is your vision? With Gods help I want to develop a Cell Church that
-
In order for this vision to take place I am willing to
After you have found out from God where the Church is going, you will then need to ask yourself the following questions: | WHAT? | HOW? | | What is the vision? | How will the vision be reached? | | What will the Leaders be doing? | How will the Leaders be developed? | | What will Cell Life look like? | How will Cell life be discovered? | | What will be happening in the Celebrations? | How will Celebration happen? | | What will cause growth? | How will outreach be experienced? | | What kind of equipping track will be set up? | How will members be equipped? | | What kind of prayer base will be set up? | How will prayer become the most important activity? | | What kind of Bible study will there be? | How will Gods Word be applied? | From this you will then need to compile a vision statement that can be shared with others. An example of a vision statement is by Faith Community Baptist Church in Singapore. Their vision reads (I hope that they wont mind if I use their vision as an example). - To establish integrated ministries of outreach, discipleship and service which encompasses the whole of Singapore.
- To be a model Cell Group Church that provides quality Pastoral training and equipping resources for transitioning Cell Churches in Singapore and around the world.
To establish 50 Cell group Churches around the world by 2000 AD by sending out teams of at least 3 people to reach unresponsive people groups. (This part of the vision is only applicable to mature Cell Churches.
